I took this picture nearly three years ago when I went back home, and it somehow makes me really happy. I don’t know why. This is not the best representation of Mauritius, but it’s one of perfect, idyllic places I want to be right now. I remember that day like it was yesterday. We had travelled over via speedboat to Iles Aux Cerfs, gripping onto the boat as if all of a sudden I would be flung overboard and plunge into the open sea. I witnessed some of the most beautiful things nature had to offer: waterfalls, mountains, forests. But, somehow, this was the most gorgeous sight I had ever seen. The sun glaring down on the beautiful turquoise sea. I was at peace with myself when I stood on those rocks, and everytime I look at this picture, I feel myself calm and I forget all the troubles I have been through for the last couple of years. I don’t know whether I’ll go back to Mauritius again, because a lot has changed, but I’m just so privileged I managed to capture this.
